Beachie was born free around 1982.
He was “rescued” from an alleged stranding in April 1984 and was sent to Sea World in Orlando on 27/04/1984.
He was moved 8/06/1997 to Hardewijck (The Netherlands) and finally arrived to the Boudewijn Seapark of Bruges 18/09/2009 to replace the previous breeding stallion, Tex, which had suddenly died in the Marineland of Antibes.
Beachie is the father of Marble (1997-), Sal’ka (1998 – ), T’lisala (2001 – ), Amtan (2001 – ), Palawas (2004 – ), Spetter (2005 – ) and Kite (2005 – ). His breeding potential seems to have disappeared on his arrival in Bruges since he has not fathered a single live offspring. By the way, in their natural habitat, adult males do not stay permanently with the females.
The so called “family” situation in Bruges is a nonsense and unhealthy in terms of animal behaviour. It forces Ocean, the other male, to endure permanent stress and to live in submission.
